1829 - Geronimo was born on the 16th of June in 1829 and was the Apache Bedonkohe leader of the Chiricahua Apache. During his leadership, Geronimo defended his people and his homeland against the invasion of the Americans.
He learned how to kill at a young age
Geronimo was born in the No-Doyohn Canyon in Mexico. He belonged to the smallest tribe of Mexico, the Bedonkohe. His life and the lives of the people in his tribe were in danger since their enemies were not only Americans who wanted to steal their land, but their enemies were also members of other tribes. As a young boy, Geronimo and his family were constantly on the run for their enemies. Therefore, Geronimo had to learn how to kill at a very young age.
The slaughter of his enemies
One day, Mexican soldiers attacked his camp and killed the mother, wife and children of Geronimo when he was away from home. He was devastated and searched his entire life to kill the people who murdered his family. Geronimo wrote an autobiography just before his death in 1909.
360 trivial fact
The story goes that Geronimo killed his first enemy when he was only a young boy. The members of his tribe believed that eating your enemies heart after your first kill, will give you luck for the rest of your life. Therefore, Geronimo swallowed the heart of his enemy when he was a young boy.
